On February 28 and March 1, La Garriga hosted the 14th edition of the Botifarra Fair, once again highlighting local food crafts and the municipality's star product.
The ButiTast, the ButiAula, the ButiKids and the fairground were once again filled with visitors, specifically 23,235 people, who rated the event with a score of 9.21.
At an economic level, the average expenditure per visitor was €105.2, the return per euro invested was €43.99 and a total of 34.80 full-time equivalent jobs were created.
81% of visitors ate in La Garriga, mostly at ButiTast (more than 7 out of 10).
With all this, the event had an economic impact of €3,287,659, with 12% of direct impact on the local area.
Fair rating
The overall rating of the Botifarra Fair is 9.21 points and the intention to return is 96%.
In addition, the recommendation index is 64 points (from 50 points it is considered excellent).
ButiTast and cleaning are the best-rated services, with a score of 8.90.
On the other hand, parking is the least well-rated service. Despite this, they obtain a score of 7.92 (it is the only aspect that receives a rating lower than 8).
Profile of visitors
The majority of visitors were women (54%) and the average age is 45.3 years.
In terms of origin, 20% are local visitors, 17% are from the region and 50% from the rest of the province, with 18% coming from the region of Osona.
45% were first-time visitors (that is, those participating for the first time).
Half came to the fair as a couple, while 43% did so with family and 25% with friends.
Regarding purchases, the most popular product was the botifarra: more than 7 out of 10 visitors bought it. The most popular products were cold cuts and cheeses.
According to the mayor of La Garriga, Meritxell Budó, "the size and dimension that the fair has reached are appropriate for our municipality, if we want the fair to continue providing a good service. We have reached a good level of balance to generate benefits for the municipality without distorting the functioning of La Garriga".
Álex Valiente, councilor for Economic Promotion, explained that people could be seen walking around the fair with bags from La Garriga shops and stated that "it is important that people know about the botifarra, but also that they buy from local shops".
