In the months leading up to summer, various works are carried out to maintain forest tracks, clean forest areas and plots, to reduce the risk of fires.

As every year, in the forest lands of La Garriga, work is carried out to clean and repair forest tracks to prevent fires during the summer campaign.

During the month of May, the repair of three tracks that are part of the road network of the fire prevention plan was carried out.

Specifically, work was carried out on the Doma to La Serreta road, the Passola to Can Plans road and the connecting road between this latter road and the Sant Cristòfol road.

In total, work was carried out on a route of 5.8 km, some of which are steep, and the work consisted of clearing the edges and profiling and leveling the stepping platform, creating drains and subsequent compaction.

In addition, during the month of June, the maintenance of the forest fire protection strips of La Garriga was also carried out. These strips are located around Tremolencs and the sectors of Can Vilanova and Can Poi del Bosc. It is a strip 25 meters wide, of low combustibility, with the tree mass cleared and without shrub vegetation, with a total area of ​​10.5 hectares.

The maintenance and forest cleaning of the Torrent de la Mesquita forest was also carried out, with an area of ​​2.9 hectares. Every year, the strip closest to all the houses is cleared and every two or three years, as on this occasion, a forest cleaning of the entire forest is carried out.

Cleaning of private plots

Between the months of May and June, citizens who own private plots were also reminded that they needed to be maintained to avoid fires in the run-up to the Sant Joan festival.

In order to carry out these works correctly, it is necessary to leave the land free of tall grasses, minimize vegetation that could invade neighboring plots and remove any elements such as rubble, scrap metal or other accumulated waste.
