25reptes sostenibles

The new proposal invites families to overcome challenges linked to nature, heritage, responsible consumption and commitment to the Montseny Natural Park.

  • Language: catalan

The project, developed by Turisme Montseny, aims to bring the natural, cultural and social values of Montseny closer to families in a fun, participatory and educational way. The materials needed to take part in the activity are available at the Visitor Centre.

The initiative proposes that children and families complete 25 challenges related to the knowledge of the territory and the adoption of responsible behaviors during the visit to the protected area. Through the game, the people who participate can discover the biodiversity of the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve, learn about its heritage, reflect on consumption habits and learn small actions that contribute to preserving this natural area.

The challenges are organized into five main areas:

  • Discovery of the territory.
  • Circular economy and responsible consumption.
  • Good practices within the natural area.
  • Cultural and historical heritage.
  • Commitment to the territory.

Each activity poses a mission adapted to the family audience, such as identifying elements of nature, learning about local products and establishments, reducing waste generation, respecting fauna and flora or discovering traditions and heritage elements of Montseny.

Six animals present in Montseny
The proposal is starred by six representative species of Montseny, which accompany participants throughout the game and help them advance through the different levels. In this way, the project combines learning, observation and fun, while reinforcing knowledge of the biodiversity of the territory.
This system allows each family to adapt the experience to the age of the children, the time available and their level of knowledge of the environment.
The initiative is complemented by a game of Montseny animal cards, in which the people who participate can compare attributes such as curiosity, agility or camouflage ability. The final goal is to obtain all the animal cards.

Learn to enjoy Montseny responsibly
«25 sustainable challenges» is based on the idea that visiting a natural space is also an opportunity to learn to respect it and contribute positively to the territory. For this reason, the proposal is not limited to making tourist attractions known, but also promotes values such as responsibility, curiosity, respect, cooperation and local consumption.

The project also aims to foster links between visitors, tourism companies and the local community. Some of the challenges invite visitors to discover local products, learn about local initiatives and value the work of people who live and work in Montseny.

With this new proposal, Turisme Montseny reinforces its commitment to a family-friendly, sustainable tourism model committed to the conservation of the Monseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve and to the social and economic development of the municipalities that are part of it. The project has the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Girona Provincial Council.

The "25 Sustainable Challenges" material is available at the main tourist offices and information points in the Montseny Natural Park. In these spaces, families can collect the challenge card, stamp it as they complete the different activities, obtaining the letters of the animals of Montseny.
