Paris, in the near future. Gabrielle de Beaumont, a fashionable actress, is invited by a marquise with extravagant hobbies to visit her at her palace. There she will be commissioned to perform a play about the death of Socrates, written by the marquise herself, which will trigger a series of strange situations and reflections on the nature of art and acting. She will soon discover that everything is a trap to subject her to a cruel experiment.
